Looking for something?

Proofmode allows you to capture, verify, and notarize media with decentralized, privacy-focused tools. According to a 2024 AWS study, 57% of all content online is fully or partially generated or translated using AI. And a Microsoft study found that people could only tell the difference between real and AI generated images 62% of the time. Proofmode’s ecosystem of open-source tools empowers commercial and individual users to capture media, prove chain of custody, and surface meta data about whether content has been AI-generated or edited with software. Now more than ever, this company’s work is crucial to verifying reality.
The goal of this rebrand was to better convey quality, trust, and innovation as the company expands into corporate and paid integrations. Proofmode is at the forefront of developing this technology. This isn’t just a free smartphone app that could disappear tomorrow. Proofmode is a suite of tools being integrated by newsrooms, software companies, and humanitarian groups.

The logo icon shows an abstraction of data being revealed within a media frame. The wordmark is set in a confident serif that feels timeless, journalistic, yet approachable. It was important to the Proofmode team to make this tech feel user-friendly and human-focused. The logo needed to feel warm yet capable. Not falling into the corporate “blah” or hacker vibes that many of their competitors lean into.

Journalists and Media: Capture media with built-in chain of custody, or verify 3rd party media.
Apps and Software: Integrate verification tools and preservation systems into their tools.
Humanitarian Efforts: Document and preserve evidence during critical events to build verifiable proof.
Individuals: Verify the content being served to them, or capture authentic content for their audience.
Businesses: Ensure the authenticity of media used in their organization.

The design language for Proofmode is inspired by the idea of uncovering proof points and data sets.
When users upload a piece of media to the Proofmode Verify web tool for review, an image is returned with metadata overlays surfacing facts and tests. We wanted the design to be easily scanned and shared to social, to help encourage others to use and verify.

Our brand persona for Proofmode during this project was: “the nouveau documentarian”. We want to show real people, real places, and surface real meta data, all with an optimistic and capable aesthetic context. The vivid color palette is grounded by a classic and confident slab serif typeface that feels journalistic. Overall the effect is an identity that feels both innovative and grounded in truth.
