California Classic Brand Identity for NBA Summer League

Anyone who knows us Hoods knows we love our LA Lakers and we love the NBA. Even when your team’s not winning, it’s a thrill to watch the world’s best players fight for a chance to french the Larry O’Brien trophy. We met Ryan Brijs and the talented Sacramento Kings creative team at MLC Connect Sports Creative Conference a few years back; we were thrilled to find him in our inbox early this year with a chance to create the brand identity for the California Classic, the beloved NBA Summer League event in Sacramento (and this year, San Francisco too). Here’s a look at the California Classic brand identity system including logos, a poster, and some secondary marks for swag.

Logos in use during Summer League

The amazing part about working with the Sacramento Kings and the NBA, is that when you hand over the logo files, they run with it and just blow it out into all sorts of cool things! They took the logos and applied them to score and schedule chyrons and graphics, animated them for transitions, embroidered them on polos for the commentary crew, and plastered them on the jumbotron. So shout out to Ryan, The Kings, and all the teams and league creatives involved.
