Odds And Sods Logo, Branding and Packaging

Portfolio of the branding done for Odds and Sods by Hoodzpah

About This Project

Odds and Sods is the product line (in the classic sense of the term) born of this here design studio, Hoodzpah, Inc. It grew out of our desire to make our own products inspired by the life we live and love to discover. We started the brand with a few items: enamel pins, a few posters, and a patch. The pin packaging was our big chance to differentiate our product and exercise our design chomps in a unique way. The goal was, will someone want to Instagram the packaging as much as the pin? Sure enough, most of the fanfare we get on the product is because of the packaging that it comes in.

The outer pin packaging shows a scene of majestic Yellowstone National Park against a setting sun with the Odds and Sods logo, bold at the top. Each panel of the packaging features a different scene from California, from El Mirage to the coast. All illustrations were hand drawn, inked, scanned and digitally colored. The packaging is digitally printed and custom diecut on the front panel and sides to give depth perspective and a diorama feel to the California scenes. The Odds and Sods brand gives back 3% of profits to conservation and preservation of California. So the packaging was printed using soy based inks on 10% post-consumer recycled, chlorine free Domtar paper that is Rainforest Alliance and FSC® Certified in keeping with the brand’s eco-conscious values. Collaboration pins get their own packaging that is in line with the brand as a whole, but uniquely designed to stand out from the pack, like the Cabin Love collaboration pin.

The bandana packaging acts as both a belly band and a 9″ x 14″ poster of ways to wear bandanas/hankies. This clothing accessory hasn’t been a staple of mainstream fashion for a while, so we wanted the packaging to also serve the function of educating the user on how to style it. The poster shows 10 ways to wear the bandana, each hand illustrated and named after an iconic persona who wore the style described. Final belly band was digitally printed, with style and item number information stamped on the front. The Odds and Sods packaging succeeds in being informative and entertaining, making the unwrapping of the products as exciting as the use of them.

Last but not least, each Odds and Sods enamel pin and bandana is designed by Hoodzpah. Each season a few styles are retired and replaced with new designs inspired by the places we call home and the places we leave home for. You can purchase Odds and Sods from the official online shop, or at select retailers.
