Amy Hood is one half of the founding twin freak show that started Hoodzpah. When she is not racking in unsuspecting prey at the pool hall or spewing stats at bar patrons unlucky enough to have cast bad light on the name of Kobe Bryant, Amy is dreaming of motorcycles and classic cars, designing goods for Odds and Sods, wailing along to honky tonk love songs, and Instagramming the pants off the world. Don’t let her button nose or pocket-size fool you, that tattoo on her middle finger is real and it can only mean one thing. She is a co-founder of the creative meet up, #ConnectingThings.
Co-founder & Creative Director
Jennifer Hood is a mildly tortured creative based out of Newport Beach, CA. She is the co-founder of Hoodzpah Design, a branding firm for design-driven companies. With twin sister and co-founder Amy Hood she recently created a goods company called Odds and Sods (bandanas, pins, prints and other unnecessary necessaries). She is also a confounder of #ConnectingThings, an offline and online creative community with chapters in 4 states. Besides business as usual, she’s fond of sawing on her cello, falling under Netflix’s spell, reading smelling an issue of Esquire, and singing a pitchy rendition of Toto’s “Africa” at the local karaoke bar. According to The Velvet Underground, Jenny’s life was saved by rock ‘n’ roll. That’s disputable.
1st generation Mexican-American & recent CSUF grad, Arturo is a freelance graphic artist with an affinity for design, illustration and photography. When he’s not photosynthesizing from the warm glow of his computer screen, you can catch him making beats, digging for obscure records at any given swap meet, or eating more Flame Broiler than any self-respecting person should be eating. Talk to em’ about The Simpsons or expose em’ to new (good) music and you’ll be buds 4 life.
Hans is a designer, occasional adjunct professor, doodler, and wannabe musician. In between caffeine refills he expresses his affinity for intricate identity systems, rock&roll, rad illustrations, vintage type, comic books (ahem, graphic novels), star wars and spider-man toy collectibles (ahem, action figures). He’s also constantly trying to find a cure for sleep. You may think a fully grown man having the same hobbies as a teenage boy is a bit odd, but… well… it kind of is.
Samantha Lopez is a designer & illustrator who spends a majority of her time thinking about what she’s going to eat next or doodling on just about anything, in other words, do not leave any important documents around her. When she isn’t working, (which is rare) she can be found singing along to the Bee Gees, eating fancy ice cream, traveling or taking selfies with her chickens. That’s right, she has chickens! Don’t let her adorable illustrations fool you, she’s got a septum piercing and tattoos to prove how refreshingly hip she is.
Jessica is a writer who just can’t quit. Her birth certificate says Los Angeles, but she lives where her heart takes her (and currently that’s Louisville, Kentucky). When she isn’t sitting behind a laptop, typewriter, or moleskin, she can be found doing yoga, rock climbing, slacklining, hiking, or water skiing. Unfortunately, no matter how many days she spends outdoors, she just can’t keep a tan. Her five senses are best fulfilled with the following: sound of creaky stairs, smell of vintage clothes, feel of water and sunshine, tasting bourbon, and reading at a book with a broken spine.
